Log Profiles & Corner Options

Take a look at what makes a Kontio log home.

A log home is also more than just an assemblage of timber, it's a living medium whose properties are understood by Kontio and used to ensure that the sourcing, design, manufacture and finished building take full advantage of this understanding.

Arctic Pine grows close to or inside the Arctic Circle, it grows slowly, due to the short growing period and has a dense grain structure, consequently, it has properties that make it far more suited to use in log buildings as compared with other seemingly similar timbers which in fact, offer poorer performance.

Kontio SmartLogTM

Kontio SmartLog™ is Kontio's innovative new solution for modern massive log architecture. Thanks to Kontio's new manufacturing technique, Kontio SmartLog™ logs do not settle as they dry, unlike regular massive logs. This gives architects more flexibility in their design, with the ability to combine building materials and include elements like plainer detailing and simplified corner joints. SmartLog™ technology is also ideal for constructing low energy buildings, and it is especially well suited to individually designed and modern-style homes.

Kontio High Log Profile

The small bevel on the log joins gives the log profile a minimalistic visual - suitable for classic and modern styling.

Low Log Profile

The large angle on the bevel suits both modern and traditional log home architecture - it also serves as a drip so helping water run-off from the building.
