Multifunctional Indoor Facilty

Completed in 2019, the local authority covering the area where Kontio's manufacturing facilities are based have made a strong commitment towards the use of timber logs given the extensive range of benefits offered when using timber logs in buildings.

"We see it as a solution to indoor air quality problems - which Pudasjarvi (the local authority) has also faced. Timber logs provide a local domestic (and commercial) ecological material. It has been used in construction for centuries and now is the right time to give it the value it deserves."

Design Protected

The building used Smartlog in its construction which is unique to Kontio and not available to any other timber log manufacturer. It is a non-settling log and allows other materials such as concrete or steel to be connected directly as there is no movement, something that would be impossible with conventional laminated logs. SmartLog also allows a building to be designed and installed on a much larger scale in both floor area and vertically.
