Architect Designed Log Home

Laminaria brings a unique feel to the traditional log home, complete with its castellated corner and wall joints, however, the overall visual impact is as far removed from a traditional log building as can be envisaged.

Laminaria is studded with features including a galleried landing almost creating an auditorium for piano performances?

Laminaria is a real departure from the norm and shows just how flexible in design a timber log building can be.

Working with the client and their architect Kontio's design team delivered on the desires of both.

The result? An engineered building full of architectural styling and evidence of Kontio's design scope.

Whilst Laminaria still shares a degree of commonality with the traditional log cabin in the form of castellated corner and wall joints that's where any similarity to a log building departs.

The use of triangulated support beams not only deliver on architectural style but creates a useful space under the extended roof, expanding usable living space.

The building’s design focusses on the social heart of the building - a large scale living area rising two storeys around which the other accommodation is built.

By day, the views range into the garden and beyond, at night the design comes to life with extensive lighting.

Laminaria

The key design feature of this unique architect designed home centres on extended views into the garden and beyond, coupled with a large storey height inner space creating an inspiring concert hall style atmosphere when playing the piano.
