A Kontio log building is just the start of your journey to creating a family home, holiday home, retirement home or just a simple garden building.
We work with a selection of trusted suppliers, from the legal profession supplying financial services, to window suppliers, with our partners here on site at Cedar Nursery selling outdoor kitchens, barbeques and top brand garden furniture.
An overview of their products and services follows.
Balustrading
Supplier: Eestipod Lifestyle Limited
For those buildings where balustrading is required under Building Regulations and Building Control we supply two balustrade systems.
- ClickitUp - our unique balustrading system, a balustrade first but offers the option of adding a second pane which can be released to serve as a wind break (as left), extending use of your facility through the day, into the night and throughout the year.
- Frameless - just glass, into an aluminium channel so no interupted views, if this is your required solution.
Frameless Balustrading
Glass is securely fitted into an aluminium channel either top fixed as left or face fixed giving more space to a decked area, can also be used as a Juliete balustrade - delivering uninterupted views.
ClickitUp is our unique balustrade system that is first a simple balustrade, or, adding a second pane operated by gas drives, can be released to create an effective wind break, gauranteeing greater use through the year.
ClickitUp, on a sea-front location, the aluminium is of a marine grade, fixings used are stainless so ClickitUp is perfect for any location below 3 storeys.
Shown here with the second pane in the lift position at 1900mm high, protecting you from the wind.
Frameless Balustrading
Shown here fitted to a deck using stand off fixings. If your decked area is more than 600mm high from the "outside" surface then a balustrade system will be required.
Glass, Steel & Timber Staircases
Supplier: Eestipod Lifestyle Limited
If your preference is for a strong architectural feel in the entrance to your new log home rather than the timber options supplied by Kontio, then this is not a problem.
We can offer 5 standard designs, custom made to your requirements: Straight; Cut String; Inboard, Centre Spine and Zig Zag (as left).
Straight String
Simple, contemporary styling, a goto solution where you might be looking alternatives to timber staircases.
Centre Spine
Creates the impression that the staircase is "floating", just as a cantilevered staircase would which it is not possible to use in timber buildings.
Cut String
A variation on the straight string, delivering a different visual statement.
The steel glass studs help to create a strong architectural style to the staircase.
Inboard String
A design variation again that just allows you to have a bit more of a say in terms of adding your own personal flourish to your new log home.
Mayflower
Supplier: Mayflower Mortgage & Finance
A self build mortgage is a type of loan designed specifically for people building their own homes. Unlike traditional mortgages, where the full amount is given upfront, self build mortgages release funds in stages as your project progresses. This ensures you only pay interest on the money being used.
Discover how much you can borrow, calculate your project costs, and take the first step toward funding your self build. We offer access to essential tools, including the free self build mortgage guide, and can help to make your project a reality.
Glass House Classic 100F
Finding a mortgage from high street lenders is not always easy when intending to use a building method such as a log home, high street lenders just lack the experience.
Setting out to build your own home is not like buying a home. You will require Build Insurance to cover the works almost from the outset.
Mayflower are specialists in arranging the appropriate cover for you and helping you to avoid the pitfalls.
Mike had already spent 5 years as a mortgage broker when Mike and Lulu begun to embark on their own self build, uncovering just how challenging it was to secure project finance even for someone in the industry.
They understand your needs and the issues relating to building your own home.
